Redbrik runner ready for the 10k

#Charity & Community, Local, Redbrik

Introducing our very own Rebecca Haslam; first-time runner, mum of two and Redbrik Property Representative. She’s taking on the Redbrik Foundation Chesterfield 10k on Sunday 17th October, with the hope of making her family proud.

Rebecca will be raising money for the Redbrik Foundation as part of the 10k race.

She explained: “I’m really looking forward to taking part in the 10k, however my nerves are starting to kick in! I previously volunteered at the Redbrik Chesterfield Half Marathon, so I am just hoping I can cross the finish line and receive a medal instead of being the one giving them out. That will be a fantastic feeling.”

“I’m most looking forward to making my boys, Logan and Harrison, proud. This is not something I’d ever do usually, so it’ll be good to have my sons at the finish line cheering me on. If I can do it, anybody can do it.”

Having never competed in a running event previously, Rebecca has been attending Chesterfield’s Thomas Personal Coaching, who has put on 10k training sessions free of charge for anyone taking part in the event.

Rebecca added: “I wouldn’t be able to do it without the help of the coaching from Bex and Richard. They’ve given me the confidence and the ability to believe in myself to put my name forward to do it. I’ve really quite enjoyed the group, and I’ve met lots of new people too.”
