Another successful year for the Redbrik Foundation 10k

Written by Redbrik . #Charity & Community

Following the success of last year’s race, the Redbrik Foundation Chesterfield 10k returned to the town for its second year, with more than 1000 runners taking part in the event on Sunday 16 October.

Robert Byers was the first male to cross the 10k finish line, setting a new course record with a time of 32:56, with Hayley Gill the first female to finish with a new course record time of 37:45. The oldest participant at this year’s race was 78-year-old John Menary, and the youngest was 15-year-old Jayden Peace.

Runners pledged £30,000 for charities, including for the Redbrik Foundation, Ashgate Hospice, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, along with many other charities selected by runners across the region.

This year, 12 Redbrik colleagues took part in the race, raising money in memory of our dear colleague Kirstie Snape who sadly lost her brave battle with cancer in September. All funds raised by the Redbrik runners will be donated to Ashgate Hospice as per the wishes of Kirstie’s family.

Reflecting on the event, David Cooper, Trustee of the Redbrik Foundation and a 10k participant, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us and took part in the event on the day. Seeing the number of spectators lining the streets of the town centre was wonderful, it really showed how much support the people of Chesterfield have to give.

“You can’t ask for a more picturesque running route, starting and ending in beautiful Queens Park and seeing the town at its best, with everyone in the community cheering you on. Bring on 2023!”

John Timms, Event Director of the Redbrik Foundation Chesterfield 10k said: “It’s been fantastic to see another successful Redbrik Chesterfield 10k.

“We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped ensure that the event came together, including our event partners, sponsors, volunteer marshals and each and every runner on the day.

“The money raised by this event will help good causes like the Redbrik Foundation, Ashgate Hospice and Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice, and other charities to continue their fantastic work in the local community.”

Keep an eye out for registrations for the 2023 Redbrik Foundation 10k!
