Kelham Island S3

Kelham Island S3

A neighbourhood to the north of Sheffield city centre, Kelham Island, is full of history, and the urban district is one of Sheffield’s oldest manufacturing sites. With an incredible range of independent shops, cafes and restaurants, Kelham Island is one of the most in-demand areas in the city.

Here are just a few of our favourite venues in Kelham Island, from incredible restaurants to lively bars:

  • Domo - an award-winning family-run Sardinian restaurant
  • Baker’s Yard Bakery - a micro-bakery offering handmade bakes and speciality coffee in the heart of Little Kelham.
  • Joni  - the perfect cafe to stop at alongside a visit to Kelham Island Museum, with fantastic coffee and delicious brunch options.

Having so many of these fantastic businesses scattered throughout the area makes Kelham Island a very popular place to call home and helps to form part of the close-knit community feel that the area has.

Kelham Island is also home to events like Peddler Market, which takes place on the first Friday and Saturday of each month, as well as other live music and food events, including Kelham Pride, which happens annually in June. The great thing about this area is that it has a lively evening scene, while still maintaining a tranquil feel during the day.

The neighbourhood also benefits from great links to the rest of the city, including the Supertram, which is accessible at Shalesmoor, plus bus stops throughout. Kelham Island is also within a walkable distance from the city centre and Sheffield’s train station.
