Top tips for
Upsizing

Deciding you want to upsize your property is an exciting time; whether you're a growing family or you'd simply like more space, we're here to help.

1. Check out local school catchment areas
If you're a growing family, it'll be a good idea to research school catchment areas for Sheffield and Chesterfield, as well as checking their Ofsted reports and the local community.

2. Be realistic
Try to focus your search on what you'd like to achieve by upsizing. You can easily get swept away looking at all of the fantastic properties in Sheffield and Chesterfield on Rightmove or Zoopla, but try to focus on precisely what you need, whether this is an extra bedroom in your family home or a bigger garden for entertaining.

It’s also important to be aware of the extra costs involved in upsizing. These can include higher tax costs, such as stamp duty and council tax, along with long-term expenses like household bills.

3. Research the local area
Taking a look into what the local community is like is essential when searching for a family home. With South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire offering a wide variety of neighbourhoods, from quaint villages to modern suburbs, there is plenty to research when looking at what will be best for your household.

4. Take a look at your mortgage costs
Finding the deposit for your next home can be difficult if you're already paying off your current mortgage. Talk to your Mortgage Advisor to figure out how much you've already paid off for your current home and if you can repay the outstanding mortgage.

5. Consider remortgaging your property
With house prices rising in Sheffield and Chesterfield, your home might be worth more than you think. Remortgaging can help you transfer to a better interest rate potentially with a different lender too, where the fees to remortgage might be outweighed by how much you could save on your previous interest payments.

As a Landlord I have found Redbrik Estate Agents to be a great help.
Nowadays the law often seems to be on the side of the tenant but Redbrik offer much help and guidance for the landlord also and I feel that my property is safe in their hands.
Georgina who manages my property is professional and friendly and a pleasure to correspond with, always replying to any questions or problems I have very quickly.
If you have a property to let Redbrik will help you find a suitable tenant and therefore a certain peace of mind about who is occupying it. This to me is worth a lot because it can save so much expense and disruption in the future.
Highly recommended Estate Agents!
