3. Chat to a Mortgage Advisor
Chat with a Mortgage Advisor, such as Connect Financial Solutions, about how much you can afford and how much you have saved to pay towards your deposit, then how much you can afford to borrow to pay back monthly once purchased.
There are a few first-time buyer schemes to get you on the property ladder. Plenty of mortgage providers are now offering the newly introduced 95% mortgage scheme, where first-time buyers are eligible for 5% deposits. Another first-time buyer mortgage scheme is the First Homes scheme, where you could get a 30% discount on the market value of new-build homes. 4. Consider using the Help to Buy: Equity Loan Scheme
The Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme is exclusive to first time buyers, where the government lends homebuyers up to 20% of the cost of a newly built home. The criteria require you to be over 18 years of age, and be a first-time buyer who has not previously owned any property or land, have any form of Sharia mortgage finance, own a home purchased with others or inherited, be married or in a cohabiting relationship with a homeowner, and you cannot buy a second home whilst using this scheme.
