No Name is a small bistro serving a short, continually changing seasonal menu, and is relatively new to the Sheffield eatery scene. A ‘bring your own alcohol’ restaurant, its menu is dependent on current market availability. With an understated exterior and just a handful of small tables, booking in advance is advised – and sampling each course is a must. No Name’s small menu is big on flavour, serving up a sublime of exquisite, bespoke and hearty food – all for reasonable prices.
Vito’s is a charming, intimate and friendly Italian restaurant with a fantastic menu. It combines bespoke Italian cuisine – all cooked to perfection – and great customer service, even at the busiest of times. With an extensive wine list to boot, what’s not to love?
This small, independent greengrocer does exactly what it says on the tin – or in this case, punnet. It stocks all the best local produce, with organic herbs, spices and sauces available. Just Natural is the perfect combination of affordable, healthy living and the odd sweet treat.
The Dram Shop
The Dram Shop stocks a superb selection of local, national, and international beers, wines, whiskies, spirits and liqueurs. You name it, it’s almost certainly there – and if it isn’t, it’s simply so good it’s out of stock.
Bolehills Park is the ideal place for an evening stroll. Located a short walk from Crookes High Street, Bolehills also boasts views all the way out to Damflask Reservoir and features a sports field big enough for outdoor games during the summer. There’s also a children’s play area and a fantastic bowling green.
Weston Park is located right on the very edge of Sheffield city centre. As well as having Weston Park Museum on its doorstep, the park features tennis courts which can be reserved online, plenty of grass on which to relax during the warmer months, and lovely pathways for a Sunday walk.
Crookes Valley Park
Crookes Valley Park is a delightful suburban paradise. Surrounding a beautiful lake, where you will often see people swimming during the summer, it’s the perfect setting for a picnic or an easy jog.
The Closed Shop
Part one of ‘Sheffield’s shortest pub crawl’. The Closed Shop serves up a huge range of local ales, some of the finer international lagers and a great wine list. Plus, with some great pub grub and a selection of board games, it’s very easy to spend an afternoon eating, drinking and playing games – before heading over the road for part two…
Just across the street from The Closed Shop is the Hallamshire House, one of several designated Thornbridge Brewery pubs across Sheffield. If you could define a ‘quality boozer’, this would certainly be it: great local craft ales, moreish bar snacks – the pork pies are a must – and a comfortable beer garden. Plus, if great beer and good conversation isn’t enough for you, the Hallamshire also features a full-size snooker table, live music on the last Saturday of the month and a great pub quiz every Monday at 9pm.
Another great pub serving fantastic local ales which is just off the beaten track. The Blake Hotel is located at the top of the steepest road in Sheffield, Blake Street – quite an accolade for a city built on seven hills! It’s located just a few minutes from Howard Road in the centre of Walkley and boasts a huge range of local beers and ciders, a great wine list and bar snacks, and a cosy beer garden perfect for the summer months.
